Writing

With as much work as I put into it, I have to remind myself that writing comes naturally to me. It takes a high standard to write well however; a challenge I very much enjoy.

I fell in love with the angles first, the many ways a story can be told satisfies the strategic part of my brain. An appreciation for the power that stories hold came second. Stories connect us and, at its core, marketing connects people.

The desire to wear loafers and elbow patches attracted me to the idea of becoming a copywriter. There was the fact that I was a good writer too, but somehow wardrobe takes priority when you're determining a college major at age 18. That's how I ended up in Journalism.

Uncanny organizational skills (I'm a librarian's daughter.) and a knack for working with people landed me in project management and later account management. I wrote a few dozen websites, ad copy and email campaigns but it wasn't until spearheading McConnell Golf, The Magazine that I returned to my editorial roots.
